All Chariho students deserve a high quality education. Well educated students benefit the entire community and support our future prosperity. Chariho must provide all students with the opportunity to obtain a 21st century education for the 21st century. Continuing my work on the school committee is essential to ensuring that all students in Chariho continue to have access to a first rate education.
I was appointed to the Chariho School Committee in November of 2021. My goal at the time, and it remains today, is to work with others in a positive manner to continue to move Chariho forward and not erode the progress that has been made. Fiscal responsibility does not mean always saying no, it means using tax dollars efficiently where they have the most impact. During my time on the school committee, Chariho has put forward fiscally responsible budgets. I am committed to continuing my work on the budget subcommittee, the audit committee and the finance committee to present fiscally responsible budgets to our community that ensure that our students are provided with excellent learning opportunities. I remain focused on keeping public funds in public schools. Richmond taxpayers should be able to count on their tax dollars staying in their community.
Ensuring that Chariho focuses on a rigorous curriculum that prepares our students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and active community members and not single day test takers is also a goal I will continue working on. I will work to foster a true partnership with all stakeholders in the Chariho Regional School community. We must work together in order to best serve the students of Chariho.
I will continue to support plans to make sure that our facilities are conducive to learning in the current age. We must address Chariho’s aging elementary schools proactively and not wait until there is a critical failure to improve and modernize our buildings. Doing nothing is not an option I will support.
